A lot of people have reached out asking about self funding your mortgage from your RRSP.

I had honestly never heard of it, but I wanted to actually figure out how it worked.

I reached out to my friend @sonyadolguinacpa so that we could dig into the implications and if it’s a good idea for your investment portfolio.

Sharpe Ratio is a great way to make sure you're comparing apples to apples when you're looking at your investment returns! ⁣

It measures the risk-adjusted return of an investment, how much extra return you get for each unit of risk or volatility you take. ⚠⁣
⁣
Understanding your Sharpe Ratio should be simple, and it shouldn't require you to break out a calculator every month. ⁣
⁣
Under 1.0: Subpar or low risk-adjusted return.⁣
1.0 or higher: Good or acceptable.⁣
2.0 or higher: Very good.⁣
3.0 or higher: Excellent.⁣
⁣
Limitations:⁣
🔴 It treats both upward and downward price swings as the same kind of risk.⁣
🔴 Only works well when comparing similar types of investments, like two stock funds. ⁣
⁣
